Play Tennis On Holiday At The Annabel Croft Tennis Academy

Comment

Andy Murray has had one hell of a year to be proud of, starting at the Australian Open the 2016 season has been his best year to date. Bringing home 8 out of 12 Tour-level titles, including his second Wimbledon crown and second Olympic gold medal in singles, he became the first British man to reach the No.1 ranking in singles since records began in 1973. His great achievements have inspired thousands to take up their rackets and give tennis a go and now they are looking to improve their skills whilst on holiday too.

James Villas has been organising overseas activity holidays for guests passionate about sport for years and our Holiday Resorts are more popular than ever as people opt for the relaxation of a private villa, situated on a larger, purpose-built resort. The first class sport and leisure facilities for all ages are a big draw for those looking to get active, or simply keep the kids entertained!

Annabel Croft

Annabel Croft

At two of our Holiday Resorts, Annabel Croft, the former British Tennis no.1, runs The Annabel Croft Tennis Academy, at the Aphrodite Hills Resort in Cyprus, and at the Pine Cliffs Resort in the Algarve, making them a superb choice for an active holiday.

With a highest professional world ranking of 21 and with current access to the training methods of the world’s top players, it’s no wonder her academies are a byword for success. Annabel’s vast expertise and knowledge is drawn from her experience as a professional player at the top level. However now a parent, her vision is not only to develop and improve players’ skills, but to ensure every class is fun – whatever your age, whatever your ability.

Annabel’s simple yet effective philosophy is this – “Perfect tennis sessions need to be exciting and energetic with an emphasis on good technique, but most important of all, players need to hit a lot of balls to improve!”

Coaching techniques have been carefully planned by Annabel herself to develop players’ movement and positioning to improve control over the ball, but fundamentally in taking part you’ll be hitting a lot of strokes and using all areas of the court with pace and energy, as well as focusing on technical areas of the game, including your serve. Each session is finished off with fun and interactive games and challenges that’ll leave you panting, but ultimately smiling!

Whether you’re holidaying as a family, a couple, or a group of friends, the academy has something to offer you. Junior courses are closely linked to UK competition guidelines, while sessions have been carefully timetabled to allow families to play at the same time. There are even specialised coaching weeks throughout the year, including the vastly popular Legends Weeks. For the latter, a former professional player or tennis celebrity joins the team for a unique programme of events, including insights and demonstrations into the modern game and life on the ATP Tour, plus social events and Q&As.
