Cycling In the Algarve - Nature Lovers Choice

Cycling In The Algarve: Nature Lover’s Choice

At James Villas we love keeping active on holiday, and think that there’s no better way to do this than to take a cycling trip. The thought of cycling in a new place can sometimes be daunting, but you don’t need to be an expert in the sport to enjoy being outside, taking in the beauty of nature. This is the first of our five part holiday cycling guide, where we will be introducing you to some of the best places for cycling in Europe, dividing each one into difficulty from beginner to advanced.

Portugal’s southernmost region is a stunning landscape of cliffs, sandy shores and views over the pristine ocean. Explore the rugged nature of the west coast, and cycle through the inner Algarve for idyllic villages and historic castles. With golf courses and medieval ruins, it’s perfect for sports fans and historians alike.

Cycling in the Algarve is great for beginner riders as well as those more advanced, as most of the roads are smooth tarmac, and you can avoid cars by staying inland. So take an afternoon and enjoy a short cycle, or stretch it out over the day and stop for some traditional cuisine, before continuing your adventure. Whatever your plan, we’ve got a route to match.
